My signature massage experience—where medical knowledge meets ancestral wisdom.
The Medicine of Touch is rooted in my medical massage training and inspired by Hilot, traditional Filipino hands-on healing, and the healing traditions of my Afro-Native and Filipino ancestral lineages. It is an intentional approach to bodywork that recognizes the relationship between body, mind and spirit while honoring the person as a whole.
Hilot has been practiced in the Philippines for generations as a traditional system of hands-on care. Touch, warmth, movement, observation and intuition are central to the practice. My own approach carries these principles forward while weaving them together with the ancestral traditions that have shaped me and the medical knowledge that informs how I safely work with the body.
Rather than following the same routine for every person, I listen through my hands. Each session responds to the body as it presents itself that day.
Your experience may incorporate warm herbal oils, rhythmic and focused therapeutic massage, deep-tissue techniques when appropriate, stretching, gentle movement, traditional heated herbal compresses, cupping, warmth and periods of intentional stillness. My signature handcrafted body products may also be incorporated throughout the experience.
When sessions are held within the Temazcalli, warmth becomes part of the bodywork experience, creating an environment that encourages the body to settle, soften and receive touch.
But The Medicine of Touch is about more than technique.
My ancestral approach recognizes touch as something that can carry presence, intention, culture and connection. Spirituality and intuition are welcomed alongside skilled hands and an understanding of the physical body. In this way, my work honors traditional healing practices without separating them from the knowledge and safety considerations of my medical massage training.
You do not need to be experiencing illness or pain to receive this work. The Medicine of Touch is for anyone seeking a deeper, culturally rooted and spiritually intentional experience of therapeutic touch.
